Anees Bazmee hints at casting Akshay-Kartik together in Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise

Filmmaker Anees Bazmee is hopeful of actor Akshay Kumar’s return to the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. The director is gearing up for the third film in the series with Kartik Aaryan at the forefront. However, in a recent interview, he showed interest in welcoming Akshay back to the popular horror-comedy with a strong script.
Bazmee was speaking to Pinkvilla when he mentioned that it would be wonderful to witness Akshay joining Kartik in the franchise. He shared that Kartik has a lot of respect and love for Akshay, and they would have to crack a brilliant script to see the two actors together in the same frame.
When asked about the possibility of having Kartik and Akshay together in the Bhool Bhulaiyaa series, the director said in Hindi, “Isse achha kya ho paayega? Kartik is also a big fan of Akshay ji. He is a complete actor, whether it’s comedy, emotion, action, or anything else. Humari dosti bhi bahut hai [It would be such a wonderful thing. Kartik is a big fan of Akshay. He’s also good friends with me].”
He added, “Toh agar aisa kuch hoga, toh I will be the first person who will be so happy. You never know, yaar, kya hota hai aage future mein. Yeh koshish toh zaroor rahegi ki aisa kuch kiya jaaye jis mein Bhool Bhulaiyaa mein wo bhi aa jaaye. Isko bahut achha likhna padega kyunki agar aap Akshay ji ko le rahe ho, toh unko yeh lage ki ‘haan yaar, ismein baat hai’ [I’ll be the first person to cherish this news. You never know what the future holds for all of us. I would always keep trying to do something to bring Akshay back to the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. It has to be written very nicely. If you are writing for Akshay, he should feel like there’s some meat in the story].”
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which is one of the big Bollywood releases this Diwali, boasts a stunning star-cast. Apart from Kartik, it also features Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Sanjai Mishra and Ashwini Kelsekar, among others. The film is hitting the screens on November 2 alongside Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again.
